see, one of us has actually done many years of study. one of us has read the bible multiple times. one of us is an ordained minister and tossed it aside because he saw through the bullshit. one of us has studied every religion he could find text on. one of us knows a lot more than the other, and that one will only laugh at your attempts to scare me into agreeing with or whatever silly thing you are doing.
actually, i'm gonna go ahead and get all of this out of the way now. i just got out of a week long conversation with a fifty-six year old pastor and i don't wish to repeat the whole process with you. so in order to save time, here i go.
you would, if i may break my own rule and assume for the greater good, assert that a god exists. a god of the bible, who is all-loving, all-knowing, all-powerful, who's will is ultimately good and is ultimately fulfilled. he created us in the fashion told in the bible. the bible is god's word and law and is literal or at least true in a allegorical sense.
if so, as we continue along, you must also make the assertion that you will not cherry-pick or quote the bible selectively.
so if we were to assume this is true, you would posit a certain verse to support your claim. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son..." so forth, is a favorite of most apologists. afterwards, i would posit a different verse myself:
"But if ... evidences of virginity are not found for the young woman, then they shall bring out the young woman to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death with stones..." (Deuteronomy 22:20,21)
or
"When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod so hard that the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, the slave survives for a day or two, he is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property." (Exodus 21:20-21)
I tell you more of how god condones slavery, murder, racism, hatred, ect. in the bible and you'll deny it. Maybe use the old favorite that the new testament is what you go off of and that the old testament doesn't count, maybe made invalid by jesus. then i'll posit more verses from your bible.
"All his commandments are sure. They stand fast for ever and ever." "Every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever." (Psalm 111:7-8; 119:160.)
"I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished." (Matthew 5:18)
We'll discuss the validity of the old testament and how it's pretty valid and how you must either except all of the bible or none of it. if you accept that then great, if not, it doesn't really matter much. we'll assume you accept for the remainder of this dialogue though, once again i'll commit the "sin" of assumption.
So henceforth you must admit, that the old testament shows an immoral, hateful, masochistic, evil, ethnic-cleansing, psychopathic asshole of a god. i could reference more verses if you like, such as this one:
"You must utterly destroy them; you shall make no covenant with them; and show no mercy to them" (Deut. 7:1-2)
"in the cities that the Lord your God gives you for an inheritance, you shall save alive nothing that breathes" (Deut. 20:16)

we'll assume now that there are only three options for your god evidenced from the bible and logic that i will further explain afterwards.
1. god did exist once but he no longer exists (not likely, but inherently possible nonetheless)
2. god exists and is evil and hateful, or he cares not at all and has no bearing on us in anyway.(not supported by anything but believers texts and beliefs, including the bible, the koran, and rig veda, all which are flawed by self contradictions and logical, historical, and moral fallacies)
3. god doesn't exist.
we'll continue along to the most likely argument of how faith and free will fall into. let's get rid of the faith problem right now. faith doesn't qualify as a logical or practical argument due to it's great flaw. faith is nothing more than the purposeful suspension of critical thinking. it's believing in something that you have no reason to believe in and no evidence at all to support your claims. in other words, it is giving up completely.
free will on the other hand is a little harder to work with, but just as easy to debunk, with the aforementioned agreement on the meaning and characterization of god. for example:
we'll say that your god is all-knowing, all-loving, and all-powerful, and we'll bring up the favorite argument of "If god loves us so much and can do anything, why does he let so much pain and suffering happen?" the answer is usually: "it's free will. it's us that's causing the pain" usually followed by a rant on how humans are evil or whatever. we'll forego that, because it's so easily tossed aside, anyway. the thing about this is, that no argument can really debunk it, because it is a slight logical fallacy of a question, but still a valid point. we would be causing it all with our free will, but is it really free? no, and i'll tell you why. God's will is always done, nothing happens outside of his will, he knows our hearts before we know it ourselves. so if he knows what is going to happen, and he knows our thoughts before we do, isn't everything following his will? so is it really us that makes it happen? of course we can't know this because "god is
so complex, we can't understand his will, or thoughts?" that's fine, but does he not follow our own sense of logic at least to the sense as we define it? if not then he isn't all-loving, because why would a god who loves us, torture us with such pain as comes with a mortal life, without giving us the capacity to logically understand him so that we could all believe in him? especially if the penalty of not believing is eternity in hell, a torturous place of agony? that doesn't sound like a loving god to me.
so we'll continue on and i'd assert that your god either doesn't exist or isn't a god that i'd want to worship or believe in and you would perhaps rebut with, "well, once you know the loving, god and accept him you wouldn't go to hell." and this is how i respond to that:
i don't want to accept a god that would provide me with no evidence for his existence and require me to believe in him and follow his immoral insane, impossible to follow rules on pain of a torturous afterlife. that's insane. furthermore, i don't accept that it is anything more than a man-made myth, following the long tradition of religion making(no other do you believe) which the christian religion is so obviously a copy of a copy of a copy of. which brings me to your savior jesus.
jesus is so obviously a myth it's not even funny. It is simply a million year old legend that just swam around the mediteranean region of the earth is various forms. starting with the egyptian god horus, who was born of a virgin, greeted at birth by three kings who followed a star in the east, had twelve disciples, performed miracles such as raising a man(named lazarus no less) from the dead, walked on water, died and rose from the dead to ascend into heaven. was called the way, the truth, the son of god, ect. this was continued in various forms to the gods, mithra(persian), dionysus(greek), vishnu(hindu), and buddha, among others.
there are no contemporary writings or mentions of jesus in history or any of the happenings around him. his birth can not be agreed upon or is confused by information in his stories(the bible). the only actual writings of him other than the bible, all have been debunked as forgeries or added texts, such as josephus who supposedly referred to jesus as the messiah, something a jew would never do, especially in his time, which just so happens to be well after the fact, since he was not born until 7 years after christs supposed death. the scholars, both accept josephus' mentions of jesus as not legitimate.
this leaves little more than the bible, which isn't verifiable or even legitimately certified as anymore than a fictional tale or anymore than an opinion. and was also written well after(hundreds of years) christs supposed death.
you might then move on to use some scientific theory that "proves" god. maybe mention design, or some other silly idea that has been slapped aside many of times before. you can refer to the video i sent you and then actually realize that there is zero evidence for a god(and if you could actually prove a god, or anything supernatural you could not only win a million dollars from several different foundations, something which nobody has even attempted, but every scientists would wanna study it, you'd win a nobel prize, and you'd be famous and so would your evidence.), that there is no reason to suspect that there might be a god, and as such, everything can be explained by science or will be explained by science in the future, as humans continue to discover more and more everyday. also, the, i must say it, "god-given" ability to say "I don't know". which is true. but to say "i don't know, so god did it" when you have no evidence whatsoever to back it up, is
absurd and irrational.
so, this brings us pretty far in the argument. feel free to respond to all of it, how you deem fit, and we'll go from there.

also, let me explain something. it is only fair that you question my beliefs, since i did in fact question yours, but just so you know:
i have read the bible front to back(4 times), i have read the Koran, The Vedas, The Upanishads, ect. i have read critiques of all of theses by theists and atheists alike. i've studied every religion i could find information on at my local library, bookstores, and the internet. i've taken philosophy and religion classes at my local community college. i've held conversations and debates with pastors and other religious people. i'm actually an ordained minister but i don't take claims for that. i've read books and essays by people on all sides of the argument and after careful consideration, study and analysis i've come to the conclusion i'm at now. there is no evidence for and most likely is no god, jesus christ most likely does not exist, and that most religions if not all are nothing more than myths. am i still learning? yes. could i be just as wrong as anybody else? yes. but i consider myself a pretty intelligent and learned person. so don't consider me
foolish and uneducated in the subject, because, no offense to you, and i may be assuming again, i most likely know much more on the subject of god and religion(your own included) than you do.

I think you have already made up your mind against any possibility of a real God.
On one hand you ask me for hard evidence which would prove that there actually exists a Supreme Being; and on the other hand, you blast it is as illogical, irrational and childish to accept any sort God.
You reject fake gods. Good. But you are not interested in true God.
You are not a neutral investigator, something that is necessary for anyone to be in order for them to find and solve this ultimate question of whether God does exist, and how to prove it.
You have clearly condemned me even before evaluating the evidence which would have showed you. A neutral judge would not do this in a court of law. Only a biased judge would be prejudicial.
Clearly, you have something against God. This make you take position which is not fair. It is not point asking you to judge the divine case.

even if all of this is true, it still remains the fact that you haven't even attempted to give me any actual evidence.
stop pretending like i am the one completely at fault and take on a at least a bit of blame for yourself, because i have been more than fair and have given you numerous opportunity to make your case and you have given me nothing at all.
btw, are you saying that my conclusions based on much study and analysis is invalid, simply because it isn't the same as yours? isn't that a bit arrogant? i'd be happy to discuss actual issues with you, as i have shown that i am more than willing to do so, but all YOU are interested in is ignoring my arguments and claiming yours are much greater without giving me any actual information to back them up.
you can go ahead and labor under the delusion that you have somehow debunked me and won this debate, or whatever it is, but you would be wrong. i am more than willing to admit that i am wrong, but you haven't given me any argument, much less an argument that would have me change my thinking.

Having said that, let us say one nice thing about some Atheists.
Believers know that not ALL godless people are stupid. There are some logical Atheists who neither hate God nor do they oppose Him. But they are very few in number.
The vast majority 98.57 percent of all Atheists are headed for Hell. They sin and do absurd thing. They have done evil or sided with evil. They have chosen Hell for themselves. They hate God. God hates them. They will lose. They will be thrown in the Fire. There they will burn forever.
